Personal Art Finder Service
We provide personal acquisition services for private collectors seeking either a specific artwork or a collection of works created by one or more artists.
Upon receiving a qualified request, an estimated budget and any preferences related to size, medium or date of creation, we then contact our network of international art dealers to obtain information and images of works available.
To be considered for presentation to the collector, the work must have appropriate and credible preliminary documentation.
The works available that fulfill the qualifications are then presented to the prospective collector. Upon the collector's selection of a work, the source dealer is contacted to confirm its availability. If still available, a refundable deposit is sent to the dealer and the work is removed from the market for review during a specified period of time.
Only rarely will a dealer ship an original work "on approval", so we travel to the source during the review window and engage the services of a disinterested, third party professional, usually a department expert at Sotheby's, Christy's, Butterfield's or an accredited museum curator. If the expert declares that the artwork and documentation are authentic, the collector is contacted to review the results of the inspection and certification.
If the collector wishes to proceed with the acquisition, the balance of funds is transferred and the transaction is completed, at which point we secure fine art insurance coverage with the name of the collector listed in the policy as the insured.
Once insured we personally supervise the crating, insurance and door-to-door delivery of the artwork.
The fee for the Art Finder Service is included in the purchase price, but any travel and shipping expenses are borne by the collector.
